The company has obtained Letter of Intent in the year 1990 for the establishment of Sugar Unit-II, in Alaganchi Village, NanjangudTaluk, Mysore District, in the State of Karnataka with the crushing capacity of 2500-TCD.The Sugar Unit-II started its maiden cane crushing operation from October 1992. Later, the crushing capacity of the Sugar Plant was expanded from 2500-TCD to 5000-TCD in the year 2000 along with the establishment of 16-MW Bagasse Based Cogen Power Plant. The sugar plant was further expanded to 7,500 TCD with the addition of 20-MW Bagasse Based Cogen Power Plant in the year 2004. The excess power produced in the above Cogen Plants after meeting the in-house consumption, are being supplied to the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Grid.
Further, the company has established a 60-KLPD Primary Distillery in the same premises in the year 2005 and also established a Spentwash Concentration and Incineration Plant during the year 2008 in order to utilize the Spentwash generated in the Distillery. The company established this Spentwash Concentration and Incineration Plant to achieve the Zero Liquid Discharge of effluents from the distillery, which is first of its kind in Southern India in the year 2008. Many Distilleries visited the factory and envisaged the use of this Incineration Plant and adopted the same in their Distilleries also.
The unit constructed 2 Nos. of Impervious Concrete Compost Yards in an area of 5.26 Acres each for the production of Organic Manure in the year 2005. This is being issued to the sugarcane growing farmers at a subsidized rate and is having overwhelming response from the farmers.
The Unit is running efficiently and drawn attention of many Dignitaries in the country and many Dignitaries visited the plant to see the technology adopted in the unit. During the year 2005, Mr. Laisenia Qarase, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Republic of Fiji Islands, during his visit to India on a Sugar Technology Mission, visited the factory, saw and appreciated the technologies adopted.
The Unit has got many Awards from the Sugar Technology Association which includes Best Performance Sugar Factory, Best Sugarcane Development, Highest Recovery, Best Cogeneration and Best Distillery Awards. The Commercial Taxes Dept., issued Appreciation Certificate as Prompt Tax Payer during the year 2005. The Department of Factories & Boilers, Govt. of Karnataka has issued Best Fuel Efficient Boiler Award in the year 2010. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board issued Environment Excellence Award for the year 2011.
